El Salvador, compared to other developing countries, has experienced relatively low rates of GDP growth in the past two decades, leaving 37.8% of the population below the poverty line. Due to the priority of stabilizing its major economic sectors in agriculture and manufacturing, the country has had little progress in ensuring technological growth and advancements throughout schools and other public institutions.
